Tucson Spartans Basketball Program
The Tucson Spartans Basketball Program is a 501(c) 3, non-profit; all volunteer Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) basketball organization. Tucson Spartans Basketball Program consists of young athletes in and around the Tucson area. This is our 15th season consisting of boy’s 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th grade, junior varsity, varsity, and girl’s 7th, 8th, and 9th grade teams. There is an enormous interest in our program from athletes in our area and we are proud to provide an outlet for young athletes to compete in a structured, safe, and reliable program. We participate in local basketball leagues and tournaments as well as competitive out of town play on a regular basis.
Our director and head coach Marvin Beckwith is a Tucson High alumnus class of 2006. Marvin's purpose behind Tucson Spartans is much more than basketball, he focuses on helping each player grow on and off the court. He does this through being a role model, teaching that character matters and encouraging them to be people of integrity. In fact, on June 17, 2010, Marvin was a recipient for Ben's Bells a non-profit organization that promotes kindness in the community. The article was published in the Arizona Daily Star.
